Eliza or Elizabeth Dempsey was baptised on 6th December 1833 at Monasterevin in County Kildare, Ireland, daughter of Anthony Dempsey and Anne Donnelly. Her baptism records her address as Derryoughter, which lies about five miles south of Monasterevin. When Eliza was 25 she married Peter Kelly, who was from Cloney, immediately south of Derryoughter - but they didn't marry in Ireland. Instead they married in Birkenhead in Cheshire, where they were to spend the rest of their lives. They appear in the 1861 census living at 7 Orderly Residence in Birkenhead, with Elizabeth's father Anthony also living in the house.
Eliza and Peter had seven children together. Eliza died in 1909, aged 75.
