Elizabeth Cunnington's origins are unknown. Her first sighting is in 1792, when she married a widower named Francis Newborn at Barnack in Northamptonshire. Over the next 17 years the couple had four children baptised at Barnack, although their eldest son, Amos, died aged 8 in 1801. They named their youngest son Amos after him.

Francis died in 1809, aged 60, leaving Elizabeth with three surviving children, the youngest of whom was less than six months old. Just over a year after Francis's death, Elizabeth married again to a John Baxter. Elizabeth's daughter Jane Newborn appears to have been one of the witnesses to that marriage. Elizabeth has yet to be traced after her second marriage.
