True Genealogy of the Dunnel and Dwinell Family of New England, p. 15, and others, seem unanimous in naming Dr. Dwinnell's third wife as Elizabeth Cave, but no marriage record has been found, and none of these sources offer any information about her prior to her marriage. She is named as Elizabeth "his second wife of that name" in the birth record of their daughter Elizabeth, but how her maiden surname was arrived at is unknown.
