Brinton Genealogy, page 230.
Elizabeth lived to age 93. Her memory was unfailing and she referred frequently to a childhood incident. Her grandfather, John Ferree, took her and some other children to Lancaster and introduced them to General Washington. When he heard of their wish to shake hands with him, he remarked, "They will see but a man."
