  4. Elizabeth's birth place in the 1881 census was given as 'Simmon Side', which is almost certainly a corruption of 'Symondshyde' - a farm and hamlet in the parish of Hatfield, but very close to the border with the parish of St. Albans St. Peter. Quite likely she was born just the St Albans side of the border, as her birth was registered in St Albans district (not Hatfield) and she was baptised at St Peter's church in St Albans.
