JOHN BRACKETT and his twin brother, Peter, sons of Richard and Alice Brackett, were baptized in Boston May 7, 1637, but Braintree early became their home. About 1660 the twin brothers and three Brackett sisters, with their husbands, removed to the town of Billerica, Mass. which had been opened to settlement about 1653. Richard Brackett's daughter Mary had married Joseph Tompson, son of the Rev. William Tompson of Braintree. Her sister Rachel married Simon Crosby, step-son of the Rev. Tompson, and an elder sister, Hannah, was the wife of Samuel Kinsley (Kingsley). This was the family group which settled in Billerica. Richard Brackett had invested in Billerica lands but continued to live in Braintree.
