Grandma Hawkins Dead
Mrs. W. A. Hawkins passed away Monday morning shortly after 12:00 o'clock after an illness of several weeks. The immediate cause of her death was heart failure. The funeral services were held from the home Tuesday forenoon at 10 o'clock by Rev. C. B. Seely and the remains were laid to rest in the Blaine cemetery.
Elizabeth J. Blount was born in Caliaway (sic) county, Missouri, March 12, 1842. On March 4, 1858, she was married to W. A. Hawkins, to which union 15 children were born, eleven of whom survive. In January, 1903, the family came to Blaine from Warsaw, Mo., and resided here ever since. The deceased was a rugged type of woman and raised to womanhood and manhood a large family of children, most of whom reside in this vicinity.
The surviving children, seven boys and four girls, are as follows: John of Seattle, Mrs. Jenkins of Warsaw, Mo., Blount of Haynie, Mrs. Agee of Linn, Mo., Joe of Anacortes, J. W. of this city, Mrs. Chas. McFarland of this city, Rasmus of this city, Roy of Anacortes, Mrs. J. D. Bowles, of this city and Gus of Anacortes. The deceased left one brother also, who resides here. Thirty-nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. The funeral was attended by all of the children except Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Agee, who reside in Missouri.
