    Snook
Elizabeth Ellen Barron Snook was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on July 20, 1885 and departed this life at the Chariton Manor on Aug. 10, 1980.

She came to Lucas County in 1886 and lived on farms in this vicinity until her death.

On March 4, 1908 she was united in marriage to Lew W. Snook. To this union were born 11 children, 9 of whom are still living. They are Laurel of Mt. Clements, Mich., Arden of Pamona, Calif., Louise Hickie of Waukee, Letha Jones of Rosemead, Calif., Faye Thompson of Belgrade, Donald of Westport Conn., Ivan of Promise City, and Reva Hitt of Humeston.

Marilyn and Dean preceded her in death. Her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters have also preceded her in death.

In addition to her children, she leaves her husband, Lew, 42 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She accepted Christ at the age of 15 and was a devoted worker in the Eden Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Later, she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Chariton and attended while she was able.

Her Christian devotion to her family and friends, and her living example of patience and kindness will forever endear her in the memory of those who knew her.

Her children all gathered in Chariton on July 20, to celebrated her 95th birthday and returned from their distant homes to pay final respect to her.

    PROVERBS 31:29 says --
"Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all."

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 1980, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Stein officiating. Burial was in the Derby Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Senior Citizens Center.
