[Note: no such death record is found, and the basis is unknown. It does not seem to appear in other sources that cover David and Elizabeth. It is not known if the age at death is actually found on whatever source informed this assertion, or if it was an addition by the author based on his assumption. There was a Find A Grave memorial for Elizabeth, but it was removed (usually seen when there are duplicates, but no duplicate has been found). There is a memorial for David, but the image is taken from such a distance, the gravestones could say anything and we wouldn't be able to tell the difference.]

  3. 3.0 3.1 Source:Spalding, Samuel Jones. Spalding Memorial (1872), p. 69, cites an unknown Letter of Enos Spalding in giving information about David Spalding, presumably a grandson of David, which one might presume is the basis for information on David's wife, namely, "Elizabeth Barrett, daughter of Joseph and Lydia Barrett; she was b. Oct. 28, 1736". The same information is given in the later edition and several secondary sources published after this appear to have copied it as well. The problem is that no such birth record can be found, but what can be found is a baptism over a year earlier. Since no baptism in 1736 is listed, it does not appear they had a second daughter named Elizabeth, and we can only conclude the 1736 is an error.
