His was the 2nd birth recorded in Oakland Township. A United Empire Loyalist. Involved in "Duncomb's Rebellion" in 1837. Laid out and surveyed the village of Scotland. He was first Reeve of Oakland and first Warden in 1853-54 of Brant Co. and launched the new county with an opening address to the Council in January, 1853.
