In the war of 1812 a company was formed, ready to take up arms if necessary, but it was not until the war was nearly over that they were called out. It was feared that an attack would be made upon Castine and Bangor. The company marched under orders to Waterville and camped for a few days. They did not go further, however, and soon returned to their homes without having seen active service.
