Medical? It is believed that Eli died of a stroke.

Eli was living with John C. and Martha (his daughter) at the time of his death. Called Eli by most, it has been reported that his name was also spelled Elisha and Elijah.

From all indications, William and Winnie raised Eli, since William enrolled Eli's children, Sarah and Martha in school, it would indicate that they were living with he and Winnie.

Eli enrolled William (11), Ebbin (9), Sarah (7) in the 1895 school census. School number 41. Taken April 20, 1894. There were 48 males and 54 females enrolled in the school.
