Bridgewater, Sept. 27, 1678; removed with the family to Bristol in 1680; … removed to Windham about 1718, having bought land there Jan. 16, 1717-18; this was the 'eighty-six acres of land and meadow' at the end of the Cedar Swamp, purchased of Richard Abbe, Esq., for 110 pounds. In 1722 he was confirmed by the General Assembly as Captain of the 2nd Company of the Trainband in Windham, and thereafter he was known as Captain Cary. He was Deputy for Windham in 1723, 1725, 1726, 1731, 1734, 1736, 1741-4, 1746-9. Was chosen Deacon of the First Church in 1729, and held the place till his death; the street from his home to the Church was called Christian Street, and still retains the name. … His will was dated Mar. 6. 1752, and he d. July 28, 1754.
