BIOGRAPHY: Eleanor Elizabeth (Ware-Channell) Arbogast (1832-1886)

Eleanor was the second child and first daughter born to Hiram Ware and Mary Brady in 1832, Randolph County, Virginia. She lived with her parents untill she reached the age of 16 when she met and married Jesse Channell on 29 Apr 1848.

In Apr of 1849 she gave birth to her first son, Allen Brady Channell. The following year her first daughter Mary was born. Then between 1853 and 1858 the following children were born, Margaret, Andrew, Jesse, Jacob, Hiram and Rachel.

Then, after Christmas on 31 Dec 1859, tragic struck the family. A house fire took her husband Jesse and four of her children. The children were Mary age 9, Andrew age 5, Jepe age 4 and little Hiram age 2. Eleanor would never fully recover from this great loss and she relied on her son Allen, now 10 years old.

Six years later she married Moses Arbogast, who had been married three times before including her aunt Matilda Ware. Four years later, Moses himself died at the age of 70. She was now 37 and again depending on her son Allen to support the family. During the 1880 census it shows the family as Eleanor Arbogast age 48 with her two sons Allen, now 31, and Jacop age 22.

Finally on 20 Sep 1883, her son Allen, marries Mary Susannah Chapman and starts his own family near by.

Three years later, Eleanor Elizabeth Ware dies on 19 Apr 1886 at the age of 54.
