Facts and Events
Elbert C . Allen was killed by a renegade after the Civil War was over while riding home with his son, James. We are not sure if he died on the way home or after arriving home. Elbert was in the 4th Regiment GA Cavalry 1862-65, Company D, Clinch's Georgia Calvary. Confederate and was often a substitute for G. Lang. Elbert and Elizabeth moved from North Carolina to Georgia approx. 1851, based on the birth places of their children in the 1860 census. Elbert is said to be buried near Mill Creek in the Colerain area in Camden County Georgia. The plot which was set aside when the property was sold was "forty feet equal". He was about 47 years old at his death and didn't live to see the birth of his first grandchild, Susan, who was born ca. 1870 to Mary Edna and Samuel Mills. References
