[The above record is a copy submitted to the state. The original is here. The indexing of the various records by familysearch.org has multiple errors that are incredibly confusing. Focusing on the original, it appears that perhaps James W & Fanny either 1) named their son Hiram and later changed it to Edwin Marshall, or 2) he was misrecorded as Hiram and the original record, but not the copy sent to the state, was later corrected. The birth date and the name of Edwin M. agree with the information on the [[#S3|death record], so appear correct. The father, James W., gets (not unreasonably) misindexed as James P., but this appears to be a simple misinterpretation of the handwriting, as the parents birthplaces are both correct. Another Edwin, Edwin C. Wheeler, is born in Acton the same year, on 10 Jan 1855, and he is given the wrong parents in the indexing, adding to the confusion, but both handwritten versions give the parents of that Edwin as Nathan/N.H. and Elizabeth, his birth as Jan 10.]
