    SIDEN, Edwin Anton, age 84, died at home Tues., March 11, 1997 following a short illness. He was born April 19, 1912 to Anton & Julia (Tack) Siden on the mailboat between Lummi Island and Bellingham. A graduate of Bellingham High School, he married Elnora Graham on Sept. 21, 1934 in Bellingham. He was skilled in electrical and refrigeration repairs, working first in Mount Vernon, Wenatchee and then back to Bellingham working for Thiel and Welter. He later became manager of the appliance repair department at Columbia Valley, a division of Georgia Pacific until his retirement. Mr. Siden was a devoted member of the Bellingham Advent Christian Church, serving on the board of trustees for several years. He also served as host for Tues. Bible Study, the Men's Bible Group, and the Thursday Men's Prayer Group. A 50 year member of the Masons, he was a life member of the Nile Temple and a member of AARP. He served as an active member of the United States Coast Guard Reserve, and was discharged in 1945. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and spending time at Waldron Island and Lost River cabins which he helped construct. He also enjoyed traveling and taking several trailer trips throughout the United States with his wife and cousins, Frank and Roberta Tack. He was a "frequent flyer" with son David, once vacationing throughout Baja Mexico. Mr. Siden was preceded in death by his wife Elnora, two brothers, Wilfred and Gordon, and a grandson, Patrick Siden. Survived by sons, David & wife Bonnie Siden, Richard & wife Carol Siden; daughters, Julie Cummins, Katherine & husband Charles Lawrence all of Bellingham; 10 grandchildren, Michael & Joyce Siden, Colleen & husband Richard Miller, Trevor & Raney Siden, Brenda & husband Dana Nelson and Greg Russell all of Bellingham, Steven & wife Diana Russell, Lynn & husband Bill Engelhardt all of Medical Lake, WA; Connie & husband Paul Wachter and Christina Lawrence, all of New Bern, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Brent & Hailey Siden, Danielle Nelson, Vincent Russell, Kourtney Pope, all of Bellingham; Amanda, Steven and Miricle Russell of Newport, WA, Erick Wachter of New Bern, N.C.; sister Winifred Rudd; sister-in-law, Altha Siden; brothers-in-law, Stanley and Gordon Graham, all of Bellingham; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Siden was a "doer", constantly helping those in need and was the person who kept his church in shape in a mechanical ways. A compassionate deeply caring and loving individual, he was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed greatly by his family and his many loyal friends made throughout his days spent on this earth. Memorial Services will be held, Friday, March 14, 1997, 2:00 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church with the Rev.'s David Crook and Al Currier officiating.
