E. Kirby Ashcraft, a resident of South Franklin Street, Bloomfield, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday in Freeman Greene County Hospital. Mr. Ashcraft was a retired schoolteacher, banker and farmer. He served on the local Selective Service Board of Greene County during World War I and World War II. He also had charge of savings bond sales in Greene County for many years. An active member of the First Methodist Church, Mr. Ashcraft taught a Sunday School class there for many years. Born August 24, 1870, in Jackson Township, he was the son of Martin and Genira (Hatfield) Ashcraft. Survivors include the widow, Cora; two daughters, Mrs. H. W. Branstetteer of Sullivan, Indiana, and Mrs. Ward Hughes of New Orleans, Louisiana; two sons, Garland of Marion, Indiana and Carter of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted at Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home Sunday at 3 p.m., the Rev. Howard Davidson officiating. Burial was made in Grandview Cemetery.
