Edward Vose was born around 1742. No baptism has been found for him, but he was the son of a farmer called Edward Vose and his wife Elizabeth, being named in Edward senior's will in 1772. The family lived at Bradmore, just north of Bunny. Bradmore church had burned down in 1705 and was not rebuilt, with just the ruined tower left standing. The parishioners of Bradmore used Bunny church for many years afterwards.

On 4th June 1767 Edward married Mary Wild, who had been born at Ockbrook in Derbyshire but had moved with her family as a child to Owthorpe, about seven miles east of Bunny. They married at Bunny and went on to have eight children baptised there between 1767 and 1785, although three of their children died young. The children's baptisms generally note that the family lived at Bradmore. Edward worked as a farmer, continuing his father's business.

Edward died on 15th September 1831 at Bradmore, when he was probably in his late eighties or early nineties. Mary survived him by nearly three years.

  3. Edward's marriage licence says he was 23 years old in June 1767, implying born 1743/4. When he died in September 1831 he was said to be 91 or 92, implying born between 1738-1740. There is a gap between his parents' other children's baptisms in August 1739 and June 1744 - it is therefore reasonable to assume he was born somewhere around the middle of this gap.
