Edward Smith was born circa 1750 at Wilkes County, NC; Marriage info indicates VA as state of birth. He married Jane Linville, daughter of Thomas Linvill and Catherine (?), on 10 March 1780 at Wilkes County, NC. Bondsmen were Colson Stepp and Moses Guest. Both of these men were close neighbors to Thomas Linville in Beaver Creek. Since Thomas was the only Linville male old enough to have a marriageable daughter in the vicinty, it is presumed that he was her father. She and her husband, Edward Smith, remained nerighbors of the Linvilles in the area. Edward Smith died before May 1826 at Giles County, TN.
