↑ There is a birth recorded in Chelsea VR, p. 274: SHERMAN, Edward Lowell, June 16, 1833. GR3. This is probably the same person, but the gravestone this was taken from, in GR3 - Woodlawn Cemetery, cannot be located online. The date of death was too late to be included in the VRs, and no death record is found. So we only know what is found in the censuses: Edward married 1857 Salome Jane Smith, had a son Edward Merrick Sherman, and his wife died soon. In 1860 he is living with his son and father-in-law. In 1865 his son is living with Edward's father Abraham (right side, line 25) and in 1870 with Edward's brother William (line 11), no Edward. Edward appears to be the lawyer living in Boston in 1865 as cited above. NO conclusive sign of Edward Sr. after that. Source:Fay, Orlin Prentice. Fay Genealogy : John Fay of Marlborough and His Descendants, p. 270, indicates person 5697 in New Jersey 1885 is him, and gives him this death date even though the middle initial disagrees?
