1838 - Baptism: Edward, 1838 September 19, son of Edward & Mary Ann WINCH, Born September 16.

1841 - With parents at Little Cornard, Suffolk. Aged 3, born in the county.

1851 - Recorded as the "son" of Charles T. FRYER (carpenter, aged 25, born at Clapham, Surrey) and Mary Ann (wife, aged 35, born at Welste Wsst, Essex according to the transcription but the writing is faint and difficult to read) at Deptford St Paul, Kent. Edward is recorded as a scholar, aged 12, birth place recorded as Cornea, Suffolk. (No such place exists and it is probably meant to be Cornard.) Also in the household are Mary Ann Scott, aged 14 and William Scott, aged 10. Both are scholars, born at Cornea [sic], Suffolk.

1861 - With wife at 3 Queen Street, West Ham All Saints, Essex. Carpenter, aged 23, birthplace recorded as Saffron, Essex.

1871 - Living with wife and four children at West Ham, Essex. His "sister" Sarah Ann LILBURN and niece Amelia LILBURN are also with them. (Sarah is probably his sister-in-law as her birth place is the same as Edward's wife's, but this needs checking.) Aged 32, born at Little Cornard, Suffolk. No occupation recorded.

1873 - Carpenter, living at Leyton Road, Stratford. (Alice's birth certificate)

1881 - With wife and 6 children at 116 Major Road, West Ham, Essex. Waggon builder with the railways, aged 41.

1891 - With wife 4 children, a niece (Rose A. SCRUBY, working at cotton mill, aged 16, born at West Ham) and an adopted son, living in 4 rooms at 11 Evesham? Rd, West Ham, Essex. G E R waggon builder, aged 51, born in Suffolk.

1901 - With wife, one adult daughter, adopted son and a boarder at 38 St George's Road, Leyton, Essex. Mechanic and wagon builder, aged 63, born at Sudbury, Suffolk.
