My grandfather, Edward j. Mctaggart, was born in 1906 in Poughkeepsie, my..his parents were Edward Mctaggart and Veronica English..as the family history goes, he was put in an orphanage......as far as I know it was a Catholic orphanage .....he married Elizabeth madams who was adopted by the mcadams family....Edward and Elizabeth had 2 children...Edward j. Mctaggart born in 1931 died 1996 and Elizabeth Mctaggart.....I can find very little info on Veronica English and Edward Mctaggart from the Poughkeepsie area.....I'm very curious th find out the history of what and when he was place in the orphanage.....any help would be appreciated

See new information added - his parents (with a couple of generations of ancestors), and the fact that a 5-year-old boy was taken from a house his mother lived in when Edward was 5 (albeit the boy was identified as the son of the Hortons). I hope this is helpful for further research.--DataAnalyst 15:15, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

  5.   Raid on a House, in Newspapers.com.

There was a raid on a house where his mother was living with Israel and Annie Horton. The article says "Two little children of the Hortons, one a boy aged five and the other a girl aged three, were taken in charge by Miss Mollie Spicer, county agent for dependent children, who will try to find a good home for them." Could the 5-year-old boy have been Edward McTaggart rather than a son of the Hortons?
