    QUAY 3 UPTERGROVE - Mr. Edward Gettings, one of our oldest and most respected residents died here on the morning of the 21st of May. Mr. Gettings was born in Ireland and at an early age came to America. Wh en about 25 years of age , he went to California via the isthmus of Panama, the only course then travelled to the Pacific Coast. While in California, he became the owner of some gold mines and succee ded in making in Gold about $20, 000. About this time he married and came to Mara, where he and his family have lived to the present. He leaves a wife and 10 children ..."
