Member of the Freemasons! Found this by a symbol on his grave.

Pretty sure I found correct person in Civil War reocrd. There are a few additional documents on Fold3, but nothing helping identify. Not the one in Regiment 8 because of death date.. There's another one in Company A, 144, not that either because of death date. There is a draft record from Webster, which is a name of a precinct, in Pope, that matches name and birthdate. Can't find matching record on Fold3.

1853- Mariried Parmelia in Tennessee in 1853.

Came to Southern Ill between 1856 and 1858. Married twice- Parmele and Saffronia.

1860- Son Jon's death certificate says he was born May 1860 in 'Metropolis, Ill" which is very near Pope.

From Judie on ancestry message boards: I just recently found out that Edward "Ned" Bush was married to my g-grandfather's, Robert James "Jim" Roland, sister. Elizabeth. I found this out by reading through James's pension records. It is stated in a deposition from Edward Bush that he brought land from James Roland in the Allen Springs area in 1867. I have found record of Edward and Elizabeth's marriage, April 20, 1853, in Simpson County, Ky. Do you have any information on the parents of Elizabeth Roland? Where is the Roland Cemetery located? I would appreciate any information that you are willing to share.
