  16. Dr. Edward Everett Bickers was born July 3rd 1872; died March 14th 1939. He was married to Edna Earl Taylor in 1899. To this marriage were born two sons, Kenneth Earl Bickers and Everett Eugene Bickers. Dr. Bickers united with the Methodist Church at Dover, KY, thirty-three years ago, and has been a very faithful supporter of the church through all these years.
    Dr. Bickers was an active member of the Masonic Lodge for thirty-five years. He was past master of the Marshall Lodge No. 700 F&AM. At the time of his death he was a member of Eminence, KY, Lodge 282 - F&AM He had been a leader in the Odd Fellows for many years, serving as president of the Board of Trustees of the Old Folks' Home, term after term, for some twenty-three years.
    He served as Mayor of Eminence, KY, for nine years, and was a leader in civic affairs.
    As a physician he served a large constituency all over Henry County, true to the profession's high code of honor. No night was too bad and no weather too severe, no road too bad, and no people too poor but that he would faithfully answer the call and minister to the afflicted. He practiced medicine for forty-one years, and was president of the Henry County Medical Society for many years.
    Dr. Bickers had a multitude of friends, old and young, poor and rich, black and white. His big-hearted and cheerful disposition attracted and held friends.
    Dr. Bickers was a faithful husband and father. He loved his home and wanted to be with his family circle as much as possible. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and two sons, two brothers, John and Henry Bickers, and one sister, Mrs. Eliza Deats, and a host of friends.--Eminence, KY, March 15, 1939.
