Services at the graveside for Mrs. Edna Mary Jones, 95, of Kilgore will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 2 pm in the Danville Cemetery. Mrs. Jones completed her earthly journey on Saturday, November 17, 2018, in Kilgore.
Edna was born on July 15, 1923, in Hammond, LA, to Sam and Mary Jones. She graduated from Kentwood High Scholl and attended Southeastern Louisiana College. She taught at Osyka, MS High School where she met her future husband Landon Lea Jones (no relation) who was serving in the US Air Force. After marrying they moved to Starkville, MS where Landon graduated from Mississippi State University. They then lived in Houston, Kilgore, Beaumont and finally back to Kilgore where they retired. Edna was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Kilgore where she was very active. She was an activities director for a local nursing home and later served as a nursing home consultant for East Texas Council of Governments.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Landon Jones and wife Nelda of Ft. Worth, Thomas Jones and wife Pam of Houston and Janet Holder of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Joye Jones, Lana Ahrens, Amy Cole, Danielle Burkhart; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Owen, Arden, Chloe and Canyon. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous friends and other loving family members.
