Mrs. Gwendolyn “Nana” Hare Strohmeyer, 91, of Stanly Manor and formerly of Austin Road in Locust, passed away at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle on Jan. 27, 2009. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Vision Baptist Church, 10185 Old Beatty Ford Road, Rockwell, with The Rev. Trouper Ferguson officiating. She will lie in-state 30 minutes. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Nana was born on Jan. 16, 1918, in Rabbit Ridge, Ark., to William and Octavia Milan Hare. She attended Vision Baptist Church with her daughter when her health allowed her to. Her life revolved around her family, which she was most proud of. Mrs. Strohmeyer is survived by her daughters, Lynda Joyner and husband Bobby of Locust, Shelia Bolin and husband Tommy of Charlotte, Gayle Wylie and husband Joe of Mint Hill, Trish Weems and husband Mike of Albemarle; son, Gary Strohmeyer and wife Lisa of Midland; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
