In 1737 Ebenezer Woodward said: "About nineteen months ago I removed from Dedham to my house and farm in Stoughton, on the west side of Neponset River, about two miles and a half from the meeting-house in Dedham, and eleven or twelve from the Stoughton meeting-house as the road goes." [Apparently part of a petition that resulted in his farm being annexed by Dedham, see p. 609.]

  3.   The Ebenezer who married Experience Fisher has not been identified. His title of Capt., and he is mentioned as doing a survey about 1725, which suggest he is older than Experience. Possibly, the Ebenezer Woodward, s/o Peter and Mehitable, b. Dedham 1675. But there are many Ebenezer Woodwards and they don't seem well sorted out. This is not the second marriage of Ebenezer Woodward who m. 1716 Mindwell Stone (generally thought to be s/o John and Rebecca, b. 1691, see NEHGR, p. 50:300) as they were still having children in Newton when he married Experience Fisher. Nor is it the second marriage of Ebenezer Woodward who m. 1724 Elizabeth Bates (generally though to be s/o Smith Woodward and Thankful Pope, b. 1699, see NEHGR, p. 50:175), as they are still having children in Dorchester when he married Experience Fisher. But it is interesting that both he and the Ebenezer of Newton had daughters named Eleanor.
