27 Nov 1778: "To the Hon'ble John Winthrop Esq'r Judge of Probate of wills and Admin'n &c in and for the County of Middlesex. This may certify that I the subscriber am the only surviving son of Mr Ebenezer Allen late of Holliston in said County yeoman Deceased & by Law the Right of Administration belongeth to me but for Several Reasons I Resign my Right to my Brother in Law Mr Abner Rawson one of the Heirs at Law in my Father's Estates and Pray your Hon'r if you shall think fit to appoint him administrator on said Estates: in my Stead. Holliston November ye 27th 1778. Seth Allen"
5 Jan 1779: "Abner Rawson of Uxbridge in the County of Worcester yeoman" posted bond to administer "Estate of Ebenezer Allen late of Holliston in the County of Middlesex yeoman deceased Intestate".
26 Jan 1779:"To the Honorable John Whinthrop Esq Judge of Probate &c for the County of Middlesex. Sir. I have ben informed that your Honor has committed administration to the Estate of my late Husband Ebenezer Allen late of Holliston in said County Dec'd to Mr Abner Rawson, which without is my knowledge or notice. I think it hard if I am debarr'd from administring on my said late Husband's Estate; therefore if it be consistant to Law & natureal Justice I desire your Honor to Committ the adminsitration of said Estate to my self, & you will oblidge a Poor Widow, that asks for no more than Justice.
