operated his own interior decorating business for many years and then became a Toledo salesman for Rotaty Electric Steel Company, Detroit. One of the organizers and first members of Troop D, 107th Cavalry, the Ohio National Guard unit that was mustered in 1911. It served at the Dayton flood and in the Mexican border campaign of 1916-17 before being disbanded and taken into the field artillery in World War I.
