EARL G. BONINE Published: Thursday, April 20, 2006 -- The Truth, A6 Last updated: 4/19/2006 10:50:00 PM Aug. 21, 1915-April 19, 2006 CASSOPOLIS, Mich. -- Earl G. Bonine, 90, of Dailey Road, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday (April 19) at Cass County Medical Care Facility after a short illness. He was born Aug. 21, 1915, to George and Mabel (Seidl) Bonine on the family farm near Vandalia, Mich. He married Cleo Louise Hertsel in the United Church Aug. 24, 1940. She died Nov. 14, 1990. Survivors include a son, Steven E. (Geraldine) Bonine of Bristol and a daughter, Beverly J. (Kevin) Richardson, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three sisters, Frances Wilson of Niles, Dorothy Hough and Alene King, both of South Bend. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Powers. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Connelly Funeral Home, 202 N. Broadway, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Glenn Litchfield, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Cassopolis, and Pastor Bill Bruneau of Penn Friends Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Penn Township. A flag presentation ceremony by members of Efton James American Legion Post 206 and William E. Lozier Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10704 will take place during the funeral. Bonine was a retired cabinet maker. He worked at American Coach Co. for nearly 30 years, retired from Skyline Corp. in Elkhart and then worked at Connelly Funeral Home for 12 years. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was head usher in the United Methodist Church for 60 years. He loved bowling and, at age 89, was an excellent bowler. He was a Detroit Tigers and Lions fan and always attended local high school basketball and football games. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or the Cass County Medical Care Facility Auxiliary.
