    Douglas B. Martin

    CLARKSVILLE — Douglas B. Martin, 71, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Legend Health Care Center in Paris.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Bobbitt officiating. Burial will follow in New Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

    The family is to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Clarksville Funeral Home.

    He was born Dec. 27, 1938, in Clarksville to Louis and Opal Barnett Martin. He was retired from Red River Army Depot and a carpenter by trade. He loved the outdoors, being with family, and helped many people in their time of need. He also served in the National Guard. His unit was called to active duty, where he served as a medic. He was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church.

    His parents and one brother, Jeff Martin, preceded him in death.

    Survivors include a son, Randy Martin of Clarksville; two daughters, Andrea Purvis and husband, Michael, of Wolfe City and Cynthia Sheppard of Paris; two brothers, John Robert Martin of Avery and Ellis Martin of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his faithful Cocker Spaniel, Beavo.
