Dorothy F. Zemke, 91, Turtle Lake, Wis., died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.

She was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Arland Township, Barron County, to Fred and Dena (Arfston) Pichelman. Dorothy was raised in the Clayton area and was baptized and confirmed at Silver Creek Church. She graduated from Clayton High School and worked at Dahlberg Hardware Store, Clayton.

Dorothy married Bert Zemke at Silver Creek on Oct. 13, 1939.

Dorothy and Bert farmed until their retirement in 1972. They moved to Walla Walla, Wash., returning to Barron in 1980. Bert preceded Dorothy in death on Oct. 16, 1983. She moved to Turtle Lake in 1986.

Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake.

Surviving are a son, Dennis (Kathi) of Turtle Lake; a daughter, Arlene (Robert) Kampmann of Dallas, Ore.; grandchildren, Sarah Heintz, Tyler Zemke, Robert Kampmann Jr., Brian Kampmann, Bradley Kampmann and Gwen Zemke; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Merle (Jeanne) Pichelman of Chetek; and sisters, Fern (George) Pearson of Dallas, Elsie Lloyd of Cumberland and Ethel Peterson of Elk Lake, Minn.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Larry; and brothers, Clarence, Robert and Alvin.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, from Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Emmons officiating and burial at Wayside Cemetery, Barron. Pallbearers are Jeff Heintz, Tyler Zemke, Brian Kampmann, Bobby Kampmann, Dean Zemke and Tom Pichelman.

Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday from Skinner Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, and an hour prior to services at the church.
