Dorothy Hayes Caffey, 80, of Winston-Salem died unexpectedly February 23 at Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born January 28, 1923, in Harmony to the late Darvin and Novella Campbell Hayes. She was retired from Hanes Knitting after 42 years of service and was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Caffey Sr.; a son, John W. Caffey Jr.; and by two brothers, Wendell and Lawrence Hayes.
Surviving are a son, David H. Caffey and wife Karen of Clemmons; a daughter, Deborah Caffey Cereceres and husband Ray of Rural Hall; six grandchildren, Michael Caffey and wife Bonnie, Lindsay, Kymberly and Matthew Caffey, Alex and Ryan Cereceres; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Caffey; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Kevin Armbrust officiating, and burial followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
