    Dorothy (Dorothea in some records) was born in Virginia, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary Margaret (Swisher) Curl.

    She came to Ohio with her family and many other neighbors and relatives from Harrison county, (West) Virginia, settling first in Warren county, then coming up to Pleasant township, Clark county, Ohio. Her grandfather William Curl's farm is now largely under Clark Lake.

    She was married to another Virginia native, Otho Arbogast, on December 18, 1823, and they had a daughter Margaret Ann (Mrs. Joseph F. Neer) and two sons, Jackson and Eli. She passed away in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, where she and her husband had moved in their last retired years after farming.
