Dorothy M. Bartholomew, 92, Lewistown, died Sunday, August 19, 2001, at the LaBelle Manor Care Center in LaBelle. Born May 15, 1909, in Vincenss, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roy J. and Essie May Scovern Bartholomew. Ms. Bartholomew and her family moved to her farm house when she was ten years old. She attended the Fair Play grade school and later graduated from the Lewistown High School. She was actively engaged in farming and raising registered Black Angus cattle through out her adult life until her retirement at age 90. She was the last of her family survived only by cousins and a friend, David Clay, who had been employed by the family for over forty years. She was preceded in death by her parents and one cousin, Victor Lind, who was raised in the family home like a brother. Visitation was held Wednesday, August 22 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Coder Chapel. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 23, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in the LaBelle Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cancer Research and may be mailed or left at the Coder Funeral Chapel, P. O. Box 151, LaBelle, Missouri, 63447.
