Donald Jeffrey Zern, 52, of Morrilton, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006. 

 He was born Sept. 3, 1954, in Newark, N.J., a son of Henry Zern and Joan (Chespak) Zern. He was a journalist and former correspondent for the Petit Jean Country Headlight and the Fort Lauderdale News Sun Sentinel and worked for Axiom Corp. until retirement. Mr. Zern was also a member of the Downtown Church of Christ.
 Survivors include a daughter, Joanie Zern of Fort Smith; son, Jeffrey Zern of Morrilton; and their mother, Margaret (Fullerton) Zern; three sisters, Diane Schergen of Kansas City, Mo., Debbie Rotola of Wichita, Kan., and Dawn Kaiser of New Melle, Mo.
 Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday at the Downtown Church of Christ with Mr. Tom Stone and Mr. Rod Leslie officiating. Bural was at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
 Pallbearers were Rod Wilson, Rod Leslie, Mark Stobaugh, Bruce Bradford, Richie Stobaugh, and Steve Celsor.
