Donald C. Martin, 82, a lifelong resident of the Springhill area, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 1986, in the IOOF Nursing Home, having been in failing health for a year. Martin was born Oct. 23, 1903 in Decatur County, the son of Malcolm and Sophia Brune Martin. He was a farmer and also a grain and livestock dealer. He was a member of the Springhill Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and had served as clerk of the session. He belonged to the Clarksburg Masonic Lodge 124, and the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. He was a past president of the Farm Bureau Coop and the Producers Marketing Association, where he was also a past state and national president. He married Mary Olive Kincaid Oct. 22, 1927, in Decatur County, and she survives; with one son, Jim R. Martin, Greensburg; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Melva) Wicker, Rushville; four grandsons: Ric and Jon Martin, and Mike and Marvin Wicker; three granddaughters: Mrs. Jack (Pam) Blasdel, Mrs. Robert (Jan) Nusbaum and Chelle Wicker; and a brother, Willard Martin Rising Sun. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, with the Rev. F. William Clemenson officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests memorials go to the Springhill Presbyterian Church.
