Rebecca and Dick made their home in Cillicothe, Texas, where D. M. was head miller for the Graham Milling Company for several years. He was a Methodist and a Democrat. He also attended Draughton Business College.

In 1964, D. M. Wellman was living in Cillicothe, Texas. He was very feeble and could barely get around. J. B. Lamar, his brother-in-law cooked his meals and took them to him which was only a short distance away. J. B. Lamar was not very well at the time because he was troubled with stomach ulcers. D. M. Wellman was living in a two-room house that was piled high with junk. D. M. Wellman died and was buried in Graham, Texa.
