DEVA D. HERGENRADER, age 77, of Cedar Creek, NE, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013. She was born on February 14, 1935 in Carson, IA, the daughter of Opal and Winona Leimbach.
Deva worked as an accounting clerk and trainer for over 40 years beginning her career at Pendleton Wool in Bellevue, NE. She retired in 1994 and began working part-time in accounting and general office work at Donis Corp in Ralston, NE. She retired from Donis in 2009.
She married Edward Hergenrader in Omaha, NE and after a move to Cedar Creek in 1998, became active church members of the CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH in Louisville, NE.
She is survived by her son, Edward McGuire and his wife, Barbara, of Topeka, KS; her daughter Shari Jo McGuire, grandsons Christopher McGuire and Jason McGuire, all of Omaha and Andrew McGuire of Overland Park, KS; Her brothers Bernie Leimbach and wife Lois of Omaha, NE, Wayne Leimbach and wife Babe of Barstow, CA, Alfred Leimbach and wife, Sharon of Surprise, AZ; Her sisters Connie Holmes and Wanda Legan, both of Anaheim, CA; her step-daughters Linda Vacek and husband Ron, Debbie Hergenrader, of Omaha, NE, Brian Hergenrader and wife Lana of Kansas, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Hergenrader, father Opal Leimbach, mother Winona Leimbach, brother Richard Leimbach and his wife “Cookie” , sister LaVonne Peek and her husband Barnard and an infant brother, Edward (Eddie) Leimbach.
Deva enjoyed working outside and inside her home, loved boating and other water activities, was her bowling league’s treasurer, played in mixed soft ball leagues, like to square dance, sew, cook and read. She enjoyed paying Bunko with a group of friends and over time began a collection of decorative hummingbird, angel statuettes and could name each person who gifted her with those special items. She had been a foster mother to a number of young women while living in Bellevue, NE. She loved to attend her large family’s reunions in Iowa, Nebraska and California and wherever they could meet. She maintained an affectionate and respected relationship with her children’s father Joe McGuire and his wife, Wanda, both deceased. She was a friend to everyone she met, earning the respect, admiration and fondness of her friends in the Cedar Creek lake community and her Christ Lutheran Church community. She was generous and loving with her immediate family as well as her extended families.
VISITATION & VIEWING: Friday, February 1, 2013 at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, 413 Elm, Louisville, NE 68037 from 12 noon to 9:00 P.M. and where the family will receive friends from 4:00 TO 8:00 P.M.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be at Christ Lutheran Church, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Hwy 66 between Louisville and Plattsmouth on 84th St. Her family will privately inter her ashes at a later time.
