Dennis O. Sattler, Lt. Colonel, United States Air Force-Retired, was born in Van Wert, Ohio to Mary Grace Frakes and Frank Sattler. He graduated from Quincy (Michigan) High School and attended the University of Wisconsin on a boxing scholarship. Colonel Sattler served in the South Pacific during World War II and retired after 25 years of active duty. During his military service he was a test observer on B-32, B-47, and B-52's at Wright-Patterson AFB. Later he worked for Big Three Industries for 20 years. He was flight support for Big Three Industries on the Gemini and Apollo programs and for the first shuttle. He greatly enjoyed many summers of fishing and hunting in Lake City, Colorado.
Denny was preceded in death by his son, Steve. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Hagner Sattler, by his daughter Holly and husband Bill Paull, and his son Todd and wife Susan Dentler Sattler and their sons, Todd, Craig, Steven, and Clay. His family wishes to thank The Hospice for their kindness. A private graveside service was held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery on October 25, 2008. followed by a reception to celebrate his life.
