Former Kent resident Delmar Earl Yount died June 1, 2002, at his home in Sumner. He was 79.
Born March 1, 1923, in Geneva, Kan., Mr. Yount served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He married Opal A. May on July 30, 1942; she died in 1993. Mr. Yount married Dorothy Heikkinen on June 24, 1995. He moved to Kent in 1951 and lived there for 31 years.
Mr. Yount supervised the installation of turbines and generators at five Snake River dams in Idaho before moving to the Seattle area. He worked as a carpenter at Wick Construction and for 25 years was a superintendent on numerous building projects, including the Seattle Aquarium. He retired in 1980. He was a member of Living Hope Community Church in Bonney Lake.
Mr. Yount is survived by his wife, Dorothy I. Yount of Sumner; sons Duane Yount of Auburn and Robert Yount of Federal Way; daughter Pamela Cortesi of Buckley; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. today at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn.
