Facts and Events
(Research): A BRIEF LIFE HISTORY Delia C. Langland, was born near Coon Rapids, Iowa, in Carroll County, on February 3, 1905. Her parents were the late James and Rachel (Sigler) Rhoads. The log cabin in which she was born was built by her father. At the age of 13 she moved with her family to Minnesota. They lived in Mountain Lake, Bingham Lake and Storden before coming to Windom. She received her public school education in the Cottonwood County schools. On June 28,1922, Delia and Bert Langland were united in marriage at Windom. Following their wedding they lived in the village of Storden for one and one half years as that was where Mr. Langland was employed. They then moved to Windom when his employment changed. In Windom Delia was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her home and her family were her top priorities in life. About five and one-half hears ago she had a stroke. Through those times she maintained her sense of humor. Most recently, as she and Bert were able to remain in their Windom residence, they were cared for by Elaine Nichols, Phyllis Holtz and the Kimberly Care people. On Monday afternoon, December 12, 1994, Delia apparently had a heart attack at her home and died very suddenly and peacefully. At the time of her death she was 89 years, 10 months and 9 days of age. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Her survivors include her husband, Bert, of Windom; her three children, all of Windom, Phyllis Ludvigson, Kenneth Langland and Charles Langland; 7 grandchildren: Lance Ludvigson, Craig Ludvigson, Kay Galer, Bruce Langland, Verdeen Langland, Valerie Langland and Verlon Langland; and 7 great grandchildren: Michael Galer, Matthew Galer, Ryan Galer, Kayla Ludvigson, Justin Ludvigson, Delia Ludvigson and Cale Ludvigson.
