Deborah Clap the Wife of Jonathan Clap died Febr. 16th. 1780. In the 75th. year of her Age. [Note: in 75th year, so age 74, born born between 17 Feb 1704/05 and 16 Feb 1705/06.]
- ↑ Typical usage would suggest the birth date is 1705/06 and since the next sibling is over 2 years after that, there is plenty of room. Age at death agrees, although not normally reliable enough for such precise work. Context of the surrounding records is unclear as the dates do not follow a clear pattern but dates in late 1705 and 1705/06 precede this, so it was clearly not recorded until 1706. However, three secondary sources all say 1704/05 (Source:Cutter, Benjamin. History of the Cutter Family of New England, p. 77; Source:Bartlett, J. Gardner. Simon Stone Genealogy, p. 59; Source:Bond, Henry. Family Memorials. Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts, Including Waltham and Weston (1855), p. 192) Oddly, Bond gives the birth of the next daughter, Abigail, as "May 15, 1705 [?6]", while Bartlett gives the date as 15 May 1706. Cutter gives the same date found in the published records, i.e., 15 May 1708. Abigail's birth appears on a page where most of the date from 1708. The third daughter, Sarah, was b. 23 May 1709, and this is apparently not controversial, except that it is a little closer to 1708 than would be typical.
