    [Note: It is difficult to decipher the day of mother: it looks most like a zero, but examples like this have turned out to be 4, 6, or 9 also. A second record here gives the birth date as 19 May 1823 but names the parents as Caleb and Sybil W (Willard) Willis. It is believed that one version of the mother's name is a misreading of the other as the multiple discrepancies suggest the original is hard to read. No marriage record for the parents has been located, but in the 1850 census (line 30], Caleb's wife is named as Lydia, and also on the shared gravestone.]
