Passed away on June 5, 2006 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. Mr. Wardwell was born June 9, 1931 in Stamford, Connecticut and the Wardwell family resided in GlenBrook, Connecticut. David graduated Westminster Prep School in Simsbury, Connecticut in 1949 and the University of Connecticut in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. David served three years as a pilot in the United States Air Force. After military service David was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for ten years, traveling in Europe as a Tech Rep. Mr. Wardwell joined Merrill Lynch, Pierce Fenner and Smith in 1967 and was a vice president and financial advisor for thirty one years with the brokerage firm. Mr. Wardwell was honored on American Free Enterprise Day in 1984 at Palm Beach Atlantic University of West Palm Beach, Florida as a business executive who conferred and shared freely his time and expertise with students. Retirement included a new role as Securities Arbitrator and continued activities as an avid golfer, a great fan of sports, political participant, and living life to the fullest.

David Wardwell is survived by his wife Mary Wardwell and his daughter Dr. Karin Robbins, son-in-law Dr. Donald H. Robbins, Jr., sister Katherine Taylor, brother Robert Wardwell and many devoted nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectively invited to a Memorial Service and reception for David Wardwell at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Royal Poinciana Chapel at 60 Cocoanut Row, Palm Beach, Florida. A family service for the interment of Mr. Wardwell will be held in Stamford, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League of the Palm Beaches.
