On October 24, 1792, David Stafford was one of the inhabitants of Herkimer County who signed a petition to the New York legislature for £2,000 to defray the expense of building a bridge over the Mohawk River and in February, 1805, signed a petition of freeholders and inhabitants of the village of Utica to the New York Legislature for a new charter. -- Joel Munsell, Collections on the History of Albany, Vol. III (1870), pages 30, 195.
