    Notes for DAVID NELSON RYHERD/RICHARD: David Nelson Ryherd enlisted in the U S (Union) Army 26, Nov 1861. Quoting Military Records U S Archives: "David N Riherd, Private of Camp Doyle Company G of the 9th Regiment of Kentucky Infantry Volunteers, born in Monroe Co, KY, age 36, 5 ft, 9 in high, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair and by occupation a farmer having joined the company of its original organization at Monroe County, Sept 16, 1861, for a term of three years and having served honestly and faithfully with his company in the field of battle is now entitled to a discharge by reason of ... until the 19th day of Sept 1862 at which time he died in Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee of fever. Signed James M. Simmons, Captain." Commanding Officer: Capt. Isaac Dickerson. James Simmons (State) Capt- Co. G, 9th Reg. Ky Vol Inf - signed affidavit of acquaintance and attested death. Signed at Fountain Run, Ky, Jan 6, 1866. Owned one slave in 1850 census. Purchased land adjoining Lewis Riherd on Long Creek of Big Barren River which was sold by widow, Mary, after his death.
