Migrated west from Scotch Plains, NJ, following same path and stops as Benjamin Stites, founder of Columbia. David and Benjamin both lived in the vicinity of Scotch Plains, NJ, both stopped several years around Frederick Co., VA, and both then resided Morgan Twp., Washington Co., PA, where David served in the militia under Stites. David followed Stites in the second group to Columbia about 1790. No marker, but letter of Ezra Ferris, a contemporary of David, says he is buried here (see Indiana Historical Publications, vol.I, nmbr IX, "The Early Settlement of the Miami Country", pg 353, Letter XL).
